Samir Nurkovic was a notable exclusion from the Chiefs starting line-up. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo also mised out, while Philani Zulu and Leonardo Castro came into the side. For Sundowns, Peter Shalulile, Siphelele Mkhulise and Rushine de Reuck missed out.

With a quarter of an hour gone, Git Motupa won a corner. Lyle Lakay delivered and the ball fell to Lebohang Maboe just inside the box but his volley flew over the crossbar.

Chiefs had the best opportunity of the game thus far on 30 minutes. Lebogang Manyama won the ball back in midfield and played the ball in the air to Khama Billiat in the box and he chested it down for Castro, who just didn't get over it enough as it went narrowly over the bar.

The Brazilians opened the scoring five minutes later. Maboe played two one-twos with Zwane and then found Sirino unmarked on the right-hand side of the box and he fired home from a tight angle after rounding Itumeleng Khune.

Chiefs' hopes of mounting a comeback suffered a blow just befroe the break when Billiat had to be substituted with a knock, which propmted Gavin Hunt to introduce Dumisani Zuma.

The visitors made a change in the 63rd minute as they finally introduced top striker Nurkovic with Manyama going off.

Soon after, Sirino cut inside from the left and weaved his way past a couple of defenders as he surged into the box and teed up Maboe, whose first touch took him too wide of the goal with the danger being snuffed out.

Nurkovic made the desired impact off the bench in the 72nd minute to level matters. Frosler won the ball back on the half-way line and progressed all the way into the box before teeing up Nurkovic, whose cross deflected into the back of the net.

Just 75 seconds later, a remarkable turnaround was complete. Njabulo Blom played a stunning through ball with the outside of his foot to release substitute Dumisani Zuma who calmly past Onyango as the ball nestled in the bottom left corner.

The Brazilians brought on their firepower from the bench to try and get back into the game but it didn't change the course of the game as the Amakhosi claimed just their second win in 12 matches.

Here's how they started:
