Mamelodi Sundowns had given their striker Lebo Mothiba a six-month contract as they wanted to evaluate his progress after recovering from a lengthy injury layoff.
With Mothiba's Brazilians contract expected to run out at the end of this month, the club will need to make a decision about his future quickly, the Siya crew understands.

An insider with insight into the player's situation has now indicated that Egyptian giants Al Ahly are believed to have shown interest and enquired about Mothiba.
"It's not clear yet whether the club will renew his contract or not. It's believed that Al Ahly have enquired about him through his representatives in France and they have informed the club about that. Yes, he could be a free agent again in July and he could move to Al Ahly for free if Sundowns don't renew his contract with a new long one," the source told Soccer Laduma.
Meanwhile, an insider with connections to both Middle Eastern and African football markets stated that there is also interest in Mothiba from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Ligue 2 in France.

"There are several interested teams and enquiries about Lebo (Mothiba). But apart from Al Ahly, there is a club in Saudi Arabia and another one in France. It will all depend on his representatives if he is a free agent once he leaves the Club World Cup where he is at the moment," the second source told the Siya crew.
The 29-year-old South African striker has not played a league game for Sundowns despite having started to train with them in January and having registered in March. He has, however, featured in the CAF Champions League briefly and now in the first FIFA Club World Cup game.
Despite his limited domestic action for the Brazilians, his appearances in continental competitions suggest he still possesses the quality that once made him a regular for both club and country. It will also be interesting to see how Mothiba performs against Dortmund in Sundowns' second group game on Saturday.
Should Al Ahly move in for his signature, it would represent an interesting twist in his career narrative, potentially pitting him against Sundowns in future Champions League encounters.
The coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether Sundowns see enough value to extend his stay or if the striker will be seeking a fresh start elsewhere.
