Despite worries that he would struggle in his first season as a Chiefs player, Du Preez has not only shown that he is well capable of donning the Amakhosi shirt, he has shown that he is a man for the big occasions.

The 25-year-old has been shifted around in the Chiefs attack where he has featured as a left-sided forward, a number nine as well as playing on the right of the Amakhosi attack – but he still delivered.

With Caleb Bimenyimana and the rest of the Chiefs attackers struggling for consistency, Du Preez stepped up in terms of goal contributions with nine goals and five assists for the club this season.

He finished as the club's top goal scorer in all competitions having netted more than Bimenyimana (8) and Keagan Dolly (6).

Amakhosi are expected to once again bolster their squad with a numerous signings ahead of the new campaign, but Du Preez has established himself as a key cog and is likely to feature as a prominent figure in what could be a new-look Chiefs attack next season.
