Performance Contract Suggested For Billiat

Performance Contract Suggested For Billiat

Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brian Baloyi is not convinced that Khama Billiat should get a new deal, but has suggested a performance contract if the club wants to keep the player beyond the current season.

Billiat's contract with Amakhosi is due to expire in June 2023 and, as things stand, the Soweto giants are yet to open talks with the former Zimbabwean international over a new deal.

Billiat, in fact, will be able to sign a pre-contract with any club interested in his services when the January transfer window opens.

The player has struggled for consistent form since joining Amakhosi from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018 and, as previously reported by the Siya crew, there have been concerns over his performances at Naturena.

"Khama, I am a big fan five years ago, not today. According to what he is contributing today, I don't know what the problem might be. Whether it's injuries or other things, but realistically this season and the last season does not warrant him a renewal of a contract. Someone like that, for me, I would say that if you want to keep him, you must put him on a different contract," Baloyi said to media during the unveiling of Teko Modise as an ambassador for Hollywoodbets.

"You put him on a performance contract. Besides that, I'd say no (don't keep him)."

Billiat has struggled with injury this season, which has not helped him much in being consistent. The 32-year-old has made 11 appearances in all competitions, and he has contributed with three assists. The former Sundowns man is yet to find the back of the net this season.
