A former Kaizer Chiefs defender believes Thabiso Monyane is in a good position to step up at right back in Bafana Bafana's FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September, with Khuliso Mudau currently in limbo at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Monyane has started the season well with Amakhosi after leaving Orlando Pirates at the end of last season, proving to be one of the Soweto giants' best performers in their perfect start to the Betway Premiership.

In the three matches they have played so far, Monyane has been growing in confidence, and he started showing signs of settling in quickly during the club's pre-season tour in the Netherlands.
With Mudau out dealing with contractual issues at Sundowns, and Thapelo Morena yet to make an appearance this season due to injury, Monyane could see himself being the first choice right back for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Lesotho.
Former Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi feels that Monyane is in a good position to step into the right back role for Bafana in the upcoming matches.
"He did not have a good season last season (at Pirates) and he has come to Chiefs looking fit, and I think he has come at the right time. He is doing well in the first few matches for Chiefs, and you can see that he is gaining confidence," Tsotetsi said to Soccer Laduma.

"With Khuliso Mudau not playing and Thapelo Morena out injured and Van Rooyen only making his first appearance of the season recently, Monyane stands a good chance of being the first choice right back in the upcoming Bafana Bafana squad. You can see his confidence is growing game by game. He is doing well with the game time he is getting. I know coach Broos is a coach who gives players who are doing well a chance. So, I think he will be considered for the national team, and it will be good for him."
Mudau has been a top performer for the national team and Monyane would have big shoes to fill if he is given the role by head coach Hugo Broos.
