A former Kaizer Chiefs captain opened up about some of the key factors that played a role in Amakhosi's 2014/15 title win.
Mashamaite left Chiefs back in August 2015, although he left the club on a high after captaining the Soweto giants to the 2014 MTN8 trophy and the Absa Premiership title in his final season at the club.
Chiefs won their 12th league title that season, however, it's been the last trophy they've lifted in the past five years.
After losing out on the title in the season before (2013/14) Mashamaite highlighted some of the games and wins that were instrumental in Amakhosi going all out to win their last title under Head Coach Stuart Baxter.
"A game against Platinum Stars later in the season on the 27th August, was a confidence booster at the right time. We used to struggle against them. It was a vital away win against a team who always proved tough to beat," Mashamaite explained as quoted from Chiefs official website.
"Going to Wits and winning 3-0 on the 3 December 2014 was also important. Defeating Pirates in a league game also in December was key because derbies are a major confidence booster. Defeating them earlier in the MTN 8 final and in the league game was big for us.
"I remember George Lebese's assist for our second goal when he turned Rooi Mahamutsa. Importantly winning our first game of the season away against Free State Stars in difficult conditions showed how strong-willed we were. Those were the markers of our intentions in the season," he added.
