Champions League Semifinalists Linked With Nabi

Despite facing challenges at Kaizer Chiefs this season, head coach Nasreddine Nabi appears to be attracting interest from top clubs in Africa, the Siya crew has been informed.

There have been mixed reports on the future of Nabi at Amakhosi, and foreign clubs are looking to find out if the Tunisian would be available next season.

Insiders close to Chiefs have indicated that Esperance de Tunis are believed to be keen on the services of Nabi.

The sources added that while Nabi is determined to fulfill his three-year contract commitment at Amakhosi, coaching a top club in his home country would be a good option if he's no longer wanted in South Africa.

"You remember when the coach once said he had teams which were offering him three times what he is getting at Chiefs? And that with him it wasn't about the money? Yes, one of those teams is Esperance. That time they were looking for a coach and even now it's believed that they are still interested in him. They respect him and they believe he can do the job in his home country. But that's just the interest from Esperance," the insider told the Siya crew.

A second Siya source close to Naturena emphasized Nabi’s commitment to Chiefs and his resolve to see out his contract despite the team's struggles.

"If he was not committed I believe he could have gone by now. Even if they are not firing him it's frustrating for him to see the team perform the way they are currently doing. But he has committed himself to the club until the end of his contract so although it's believed there is interest from other clubs including Esperance, he is apparently not willing to leave at this point," the second source stated.

Nabi, who previously coached AS FAR in Morocco, joined Chiefs at the beginning of the season on a three-year deal. Under his direction, Amakhosi have played 24 league matches, winning eight, drawing six, and losing ten. The team currently sits in eighth position on the Betway Premiership with 30 points.

Chiefs face a tough challenge in their next assignment, a Nedbank Cup semi-final clash against Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, scheduled for Sunday, April 13, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
