Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Katlego "Killer" Mphela attributes the struggles of the club's current forwards to the immense pressure associated with playing for Amakhosi. He suggests that not all players can handle this unique challenge and proposes solutions to reignite the scoring spark.Mphela, himself a former Bafana Bafana striker, acknowledges the pressure cooker environment at Chiefs when speaking exclusively to Soccer Laduma.
He also emphasizes the historical weight of the Chiefs jersey and the demanding nature of the supporters.

"I think some of the players who are at Chiefs right now are not supposed to be playing for the club. You know the club has history of great players and you have to follow in the footsteps of those players and that comes with pressure. You have to handle that pressure. If you cannot handle the pressure you can't play for Chiefs.
"Even me when I joined Chiefs the pressure was different. I was not used to that pressure. It's different as the supporters are not patient when results are not forthcoming. It's the biggest club not just in South Africa but in Africa as well and to play for such a team you should have a thick skin and survive to give the best results for the club," Mphela said.
Beyond individual resilience, Mphela proposes two key solutions to address the goalscoring woes.
Hiring a dedicated striking coach:
"They need to consider hiring a striking coach. I know they could have been skeptical in the past but they should give it a try now."
Extra training sessions for the strikers:
"Also the strikers themselves they need to have that extra sessions after training because the coach doesn't have enough time to teach them everything they need to do when in a game situation."
"So with striking coach and extra sessions things would change and they would start converting those chances. They create chances but they can't score. That's what they have to work on," Mphela concluded.
Chiefs take on Swallows in PSL action on Saturday, hoping to get back to winning ways after getting knocked out from the Nedbank Cup against Milford FC last weekend.
