Macufe Cup

Teams: Kaizer Chiefs v Royal AM

Date: 25 September 2022

Venue: Toyota Free State Stadium

Time: 15h00

The Macufe Cup will be making a return after a two-year absence after it was halted due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The last time the tournament took place was in 2019, where the now defunct Bloemfontein Celtic were crowned winners after beating Chiefs 2-0.

Thwihli Thwahla have bought the Premiership status of Celtic and will play against Amakhosi for the first time.

Both sides will be in high spirits after winning their previous matches, with the Glamour Boys looking to build momentum after victory over SuperSport United in the league.

Royal AM, meanwhile, progressed to the second preliminary round in the CAF Confederation Cup after dumping out Mbabane Highlanders.

Thwihli Thwahla have a 100 percent winning record against Chiefs in their three meetings in the league so far, dating back from last season.

Amakhosi will be without Ashley Du Preez and Kgaogelo Sekgota who were both called-up to the Bafana Bafana squad.

Here's how they line up:

Kaizer Chiefs: Petersen, Frosler, Ngezana, Mathoho, Dove, Alexander, Nange, Nk. Ngcobo, Mashiane, Dolly, Duba

Subs: Bvuma, Nj. Ngcobo, Dube, Mokwena, Zwane, Radebe, Mahlatsi

Royal AM: Ngcobo, Mabuza, Lingwati, Shezi, Skakane, Dlamini, Godfred, Roberts, Ndlovu, Potsane, Nurkovic.
