'You Can Compare Nabi To Pep & Pitso'

'You Can Compare Nabi To Pep & Pitso'

The improvement of Kaizer Chiefs as a team in just three matches under new head coach Nasreddine Nabi is palpable, but what has the Tunisian changed behind the scenes?

Chiefs have been trying to rebuild their squad for a number of consecutive seasons, with a high turnover of players being signed and released.

Amakhosi, in the off-season released six players, after parting ways with Keagan Dolly, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe, Sifiso Hlanti, Itumeleng Khune and Jasond Gonzalez.

The Soweto giants made seven new signings, goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, Rushwin Dortley, Inacio Miguel, Bradley Cross, Bongani Sam, Njabulo Blom (on loan) and Gaston Sirino.

According to former Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jan 'Malombo' Lechaba, Amakhosi could finally have discipline they lacked in the past, after parting ways with certain players.

"I'm saying to everybody that Kaizer Chiefs is going to be a different side altogether this season. Everybody is disciplined, that's what I've seen. Everybody is giving 100 percent," Lechaba said on Radio 2000's Game On.

"I think coach Nabi is a winning coach, you can compare him with the likes of Pep Guardiola, Pitso Mosimane, they just want to win. If you put that mentality to the players, you see different results altogether. There's a change of mindset, everybody wants to play, everybody wants to be a winner.

"One of the things one has to highlight, sometimes if the players are not happy, they will never perform. But I think what Kaizer Chiefs have done, we need to congratulate them, to take out some of the players, I don't want to mention [names], that were getting money while they were not playing or injured. But after they released those players, you see a different Kaizer Chiefs," Lechaba added.

The belief in youngsters by Nabi has also breathed a new lease of life and raised competition in the Amakhosi squad.
