While Kaizer Chiefs' hunt for a goalkeeper coach is ongoing, the club has deployed temporary measures in the interim, the Siya crew has been informed.
Following the departure of goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter at the start of June, Chiefs have yet to appoint a permanent replacement for Baxter who spent four years at the club after his appointment in 2018.
In the interim, Aubrey Mathibe, who was appointed in April this year has been standing in and taking the club's goalkeepers Itumeleng Khune, Bruce Bvuma and Bontle Molefe through their paces in their pre-season camp in Polokwane.
He has been joined by another Chiefs goalkeeper coach in Rory Minnaar, a longstanding member of the club's technical team with the reserve side as well as the development teams.
According to an insider at the club, Amakhosi are in no rush to replace Baxter but are actively searching for a goalkeeper coach to step in while Mathibe and Minnaar continue their development at the club.
"The two goalkeeper coaches have gone with the club in pre-season. Mathibe has been around the team for a while, so he knows the setup and Rory has stepped in when needed, so he is no stranger to the job. As far as I know the club is still looking for a coach but they are not panicking," the insider explained.
