Chiefs’ New Target? Eppiah Joins The List

Kaizer Chiefs coach

Kaizer Chiefs’ hunt for firepower up front continues, with Belgian-born striker Josh Eppiah becoming the latest name linked to a potential move to Naturena.

As part of the club’s rebuilding strategy, strengthening the attacking department remains a key priority.

Chiefs have struggled for consistency in front of goal this season, and improving their strike force is seen as vital to turning their fortunes around and competing for silverware once more.

With just six matches left in the Betway Premiership, Amakhosi are battling to secure a Top Eight finish and avoid a repeat of last season’s disappointment when they ended 10th, missing out on the MTN8 competition.

The likes of Congolese forward Fiston Mayele and former Cape Town City star Fagrie Lakay have already been linked with the club, and now Eppiah has joined the growing list of potential signings.

Sources close to the situation have informed the Siya crew that the 27-year-old striker has been offered to Chiefs as the club explores its options ahead of the next transfer window.

Eppiah’s interest in playing in the PSL isn’t new. Back in January, it was revealed by the Siya crew that the player was eager to make the move to Mzansi, with those close to the striker confirming his desire for a fresh start in the PSL.

Now, it has emerged that Chiefs are among the clubs that have been contacted regarding the player, as confirmed by local agent Abbie Rasimphi of the Moscow Africa Renewal Project.

“Josh Eppiah is a player that we are assessing the options for, and I can confirm that there are plans for him to play in the PSL next season. Kaizer Chiefs are one of the clubs that have been contacted to offer his services, that I can confirm,” said Rasimphi, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Chiefs this Sunday when they face arch-rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.

The eagerly awaited clash presents a golden opportunity for the Soweto giants to end their near decade-long trophy drought and bring much-needed joy to their loyal supporters. The winners of this semi-final will take on the winners from the other last four match, between Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants.
