With Kaizer Chiefs believed to be looking to reduce the average age in the side, the club will have some big decisions to make in the coming months with experienced campaigners in the team.
Amakhosi currently have 13 players who are 30 years or older, with an average age of 25.8 in their 33-man squad. As the season draws nearer to an end, the club has Daniel Akpeyi (35), Bernard Parker (36), Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Kearyn Baccus (30), Lebogang Manyama (31), Daniel Cardoso (33) and Leonardo Castro (32) with contracts expiring at the end of the season.
Should Amakhosi not renew any of the deals with these above-mentioned players, this would give them an opportunity to go into the market to secure the services of players under the age of 30, as they look to rebuild after yet another difficult campaign.
Baxter has shown this season he prefers the experienced campaigners in his side, while the likes of Nkosingiphile Kgaogelo Sekgota, Happy Mashiane and Sabelo Radebe - who are all under the age of 25 - have been either in and out of the team or are simply just not breaking in.
Of the players who are under 25, Njabulo Blom (22) has featured the most, playing 20 matches in all competitions. Reeve Frosler (24) has played 14 matches in all competitions, while Nkosingiphile Ngcobo (22) has played 11 times.
