Kaizer Chiefs' Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana outlines his focus areas

Kaizer Chiefs' Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana outlines his focus areas

There is a high anticipation for new Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana to start matches after his debut off the bench against AmaZulu.

Bimenyimana's debut was delayed by work permit issues after he was confirmed as a new signing a couple of weeks ago but finally got the green light.

The Burundian came on as a second-half substitute in place of forward Ashley Du Preez for the last 20 minutes against Usuthu and showed promise with his touches and speed upfront.

The 24-year old striker says he was encouraged by his brief appearance against Brandon Truter's charges and has already figured out what he needs to improve on.

"When I got on the pitch, my first touch of the ball was good. I gave it to KG (Kgaogelo Sekgota) in some space, which gave me confidence," Bimenyimana said via the club's official website.

"I still feel I can do better though. I always want to improve. In the game, I was a second out of time when Keagan (Dolly) gave me the ball and I was offside, so those are the small things from the game, like timing, that I will work on," he said.

Soccer Laduma looks at what would be key for Chiefs to get the best out of for Bimenyimana.

Midfield dynamic

Bimenyimana is a mobile striker, good on the feet and quick to go forward, he will need players with an eye for a pass.

One of the midfielders with a good vision to spot runners, is Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, who is currently playing second-fiddle to George Matlou. Will Ngcobo start?

The likes of Siyethemba Sithebe and Yusuf Maart may have to bypass the midfield in their distribution of the ball and play diagonal or direct long passes in the channels to get Bimenyimana in the game.

Partners in attack

Given the Burundian's pace, it's likely that should he start, he may not play alongside Du Preez, who is also a pacey forward.

And that would mean he could join Sekgota, who has a burst of pace going forward and Khama Billiat, who has a good movement off the ball in the last third, to maximise the potential of Bimenyimana.

However, the quality of passes or crosses from Keagan Dolly cannot be understated, as the Burundian would also need quality aerial balls, given his height, 1,9 meters tall.

So, Zwane has a good selection headache.
