Chiefs Assistant Coach Makes Bold Soweto Derby Claim

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has made a bold claim about the upcoming Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates next week.

The Amakhosi progressed to the Last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after thrashing Free Agents at FNB Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Chiefs assistant feels they have a 50/50 chance heading into the derby against a Buccaneers side looking to maintain a title charge in the Betway Premiership.

"Honestly we have a good team, not very good players but a good team. All play for Chiefs and can play from start for the badge," Youssef told SuperSport after the game.

" We have good players, good ambition inside, they want to progress. We changed always, we try to keep the fitness of our players and also to try to manage the team.

"We had four players on three yellow cards, (Mduduzi) Shabalala, (Yusuf) Maart, (Njabulo) Blom and (Samkelo) Zwane, so we tried to manage this game, we had stay focused and also think about the derby.

"The derby is 50 percent, 50 percent for both teams. We have our idea, they have their idea, we will see next week. We'll win, we'll see."

Wandile Duba was stretchered off with injury on the stroke of halftime, and the coach is hopeful he can be ready for the big game next weekend.

"Honestly I can say nothing, we will see with the doctor now, we don't know but I hope he will be ready for the derby," the Tunisian coach added.
