Former Orlando Pirates skillful midfielder James Mothibi believes that the DStv Premiership title race will be competed by the three famous rivals, the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and his former team.

In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, the Northern Cape based Mothibi stated that people should not be fooled by the pre-season results of Kaizer Chiefs as that will change when the campaign starts.
"As for me it's clear. The league title will be between these three teams (Pirates, Chiefs and Downs)," said Mothibi.
"They have all shown in the way they have signed that they want to compete and win trophies and mainly the league. It's true Chiefs have not done well in the pre-season but that should not fool people.
"The pre-season helps the team look at their players and condition them ready for the season and as much as it's good to win but it doesn't really define the season ahead.
"It will be competitive but one of these three will win the DStv Premiership title," he said.
He is currently running his James Mothibi Sports Academy in the Northern Cape and added that Pirates will be a big threat looking at how they finished the season and how they have been conducting their pre-season training.
"You see they were in Spain and the new team has displayed what they are capable of doing. Last season they depended mostly on Monnapule Saleng because Thembinkosi Lorch was out injured but now they will relieve him of that pressure because of the good mixture of old and new players."

"They will be a threat to many teams as they will display what they learnt in Spain. I believe this season they will be better than last season and ready to win more silveware than they did last season," Mothibi told Soccer Laduma.
