As players from the Kaizer Chiefs development get game-time in the first team, there is a forgotten striker from the youth ranks at Amakhosi who will be hoping for a change of fortune in his career.
Itumeleng Shopane remains an Amakhosi player going into the new season, but a decision on what happens next in his career still has to be made, with no guarantee of first team action under coach Stuart Baxter.
When Shopane left Swallows quite early last season after reports revealed that Amakhosi had recalled him and teammates Ayanda Rorwana and Sizwe Twala to Naturena, the striker trained with the reserve team, as he was not part of former coach Gavin Hunt's plans.
Hunt denied recalling the players, saying, "they were never here" in a press conference after a clash against Mamelodi Sundowns last season.
A loan move could be possible for the 24-year-old player, but he and his representatives will wait on management on the next move. A permament exit cannot also be ruled out at this stage.
Shopane is part of a group of Amakhosi products who played in Arthur Zwane's Diski Challenge side, including the likes of Siyabonga Ngezana, Wiseman Meyiwa, Given Thibedi and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, who was one of the star performers in the first team for the Soweto giants last season.
