A Zambian player who has experience in the Absa Premiership is concerned about the performances of his countryman Lazarous Kambole for Kaizer Chiefs.

Kambole joined Chiefs last year for the start of the 2019/20 season, having proven himself as a top striker at Zambian club Zesco United.

In his first season in Mzansi's top-flight, the 26-year-old made 11 appearances from the 22 Absa Premiership matches for Chiefs, before the PSL break.

Zambian midfielder Noah Chivuta, who played for a number of clubs in Mzansi including Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United, is worried that Kambole's apparent loss of form could haunt him.

"I heard more about him when he was at Zesco that he did well and he had some call ups to the national team. So, I watched him play and I saw that he had the potential. I know a little bit about him and I thought he was one of the promising players," said Chivuta.

"But since that big move he made, I think he has failed to live up to the standard and it's very discouraging for a young man, because his career could end like that. That's where it needs mental strength. If you are not strong mentally it can ruin your career. That confidence he had when he was at Zesco, he doesn't have it anymore. Wherever he can go (in his next move), if there's no one to guide him to bring that confidence back, somebody to lift him up, he could struggle," the 36-year-old told the Siya crew.
