Ernst Middendorp Thinks Kaizer Chiefs v Cape Town City Was Like Chess

Ernst Middendorp

Ernst Middendorp's Kaizer Chiefs are now seven games unbeaten in all competitions, and the German thinks that their most recent win – against Cape Town City – was like a chess game.   Read: Red Hot Parker Fires Message To Amakhosi Fans   The Glamour Boys came out on top over City on Sunday to book their spot in the 2019 Nedbank Cup semi-finals, where they have been drawn against Chippa United for a spot in the main event at the end of the season.   A tough game was expected for the Amakhosi, however, a tactical masterclass from their coach led to them scoring a big win against a Citizens side that was expected to give them a tough time at Mbombela Stadium.   Read: PSL Issues Jantjie Statement After Tragic Death   Speaking to the club's official website about the encounter, Middendorp said, "I am happy with the result and the good performance, we deserved to qualify for the semis… It was like a chess game; it became a matter of reading the opponent. We prepare for all the teams the same way, we really executed our game plan well.   "I, therefore, think that a compliment should go to everyone who was involved with the preparation and execution for this encounter. Everybody did what they were required to do."   Meanwhile, the German also spared a thought for the Amakhosi faithful, saying, "They came in big numbers and added to the spectacle. I'm glad we gave them the performance they deserve."   Next up for Chiefs is Baroka FC this coming weekend, with a chance to move back into the top five up for grabs.    Toyota, drive your obsession     SLTV: Larsen: Rakhale Should Get A Look In At Bafana
