Ramahlwe Mphahlele was recently named Kaizer Chiefs captain by coach Gavin Hunt, ushering him into a list of players, particularly defenders, who have had the honour to wear the armband at Naturena over the years.
One of them, Ryder Mofokeng, died in January this year with the club paying tribute to him after he spent a decade at Chiefs.
Mphahlele takes on quite a responsibility and has been praised by Hunt for his leadership, which was also recognised by his former employers, Mamelodi Sundowns before he left the club in 2016 to join Amakhosi.
Some of the club's most notable captains also include the likes of Neil Tovey and Patrick Mabedi, who wore the armband when Chiefs won a continental title back in 2001 and also crowned the African Club of The Year.
Tovey enjoyed quite a successful spell leading the Glamour Boys, too, and his career culminated in him lifting the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations with Bafana Bafana.
