An Exodus Looming at Chiefs? Players In Firing Line

An Exodus Looming at Chiefs? Players In Firing Line

With Kaizer Chiefs still in a rebuilding phase, an exodus could be looming at the end of the season, as Soccer Laduma assesses players who could be released.

Christian Saile

Saile is already linked with a move away from the club in the current transfer window, either on loan or permanently.

Zitha Kwinika

Kwinika is yet to feature for Chiefs this season and with his contract reportedly coming to an end in June, it is unlikely he will be retained at the of the campaign.

Bongani Sam

Sam has not officially kicked a ball for Amakhosi since he was signed in the off-season from Orlando Pirates, after he got injured during the pre-season.

The 27-year-old, who also struggled with injuries at Pirates, was signed on a three-year contract and it remains to be seen if the club would still give him a chance or if a termination agreement could be on the cards.

Edson Castillo

Castillo has been sidelined with injury since the end of October and is only expected to be back in March and with his contract running out in June, Chiefs could weigh up his contract extension with available midfielders on the market.

George Matlou

Matlou has recovered from a long-term injury and has featured off the bench for the first time this season against Stellenbosch and Golden Arrows.

However, the 26-year-old is yet to impress at the Naturena-based club and with his contract also coming to an end in June, he could finally be released, even though Amakhosi have a one-year option on his contract.

Gaston Sirino

Sirino made a huge difference after his signing as a free agent from Mamelodi Sundowns on a two-year deal.

However, as revealed by the Siya crew, the Uruguayan has had a fallout with head coach Nasreddine Nabi and the club's management and a contract termination is one of the possible sanctions before the Amakhosi hierarchy, as previously reported by this publication.

Ranga Chivaviro

Chivaviro had a good start to the season but his woes in front of goal in the last few months will not help his bidding for a new contract, as his current deal expires at the of June this year.

Mduduzi Mdantsane

Mdantsane has not made the Chiefs squad this season due to a long term injury and even though he featured for the Soweto giants in the Home of Legends Cup in November, the former Cape Town City midfielder is yet to make his official comeback.

The 30-year-old left-footer has one-and-half year left on his contract and is one of the players in the firing line at Chiefs.

Edmilson Dove

Dove has also not played or featured this season after he got injured in the pre-season.

The Mozambican's contract is running out in five months' time, although Chiefs have an option for a further year.
