There are quite a few former Kaizer Chiefs players who have disappeared from the limelight and have not necessarily announced their retirements, including the likes of Mandla Masango, Bongani Ndulula and Levy Mokgothu.
Amakhosi have let go of a number of players over the last few years and many have struggled to crack it in the top flight and have gone down to lower leagues to try save their careers, while others have remained clubless for some time.

Masango stands out as one of the most prominent former Amakhosi players who have just disappeared from the limelight in recent years. Since coming back to South Africa in 2018 from Danish club Randers FC, Masango has not played for any club at a professional level. The 31-year-old was recently linked with a move to GladAfrica Championship side Sekhukhune United, but no deal materialised.
In 2019, Amakhosi released former Cape Town City and Bidvest Wits attacker Bhongolwethu Jayiya. He has not played professional football since then. The 31-year-old revealed in interviews that he was taking a break and later confirmed that he is ready to make a return, but no one has signed him.
It's a similar story with former Amakhosi left-back Levy Mokgothu, who was released in 2016 and has just disappeared from the game since then. Players such as Edward Manqele, Philani Cele, Tshepo Bulu, Simphiwe Mtsweni, Lucky Khune, Punch Masenamela, David Zulu, Abia Nale, Kingston Nkatha and Yusuf Bunting are some of the other players who have disappeared from the limelight, either clubless or playing in the lower leagues. There has been no official word on whether or not they have left the game completely.
