After calling time on their careers, most players turn to coaching as a means of staying close to the game and imparting some of the knowledge gained to upcoming footballers. However, there are a faction of players who have turned to player management where they take care of some of the country's biggest superstars, both on and off the field.
In light of this, Soccer Laduma takes a look at seven players who have become agents.
Sean Roberts
Former Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns, Wits and Chippa United, goalkeeper Sean Roberts hung his gloves and retired from football in 2017. He enjoyed a short hiatus thereafter but found himself back in the game, this time as a player agent.
Roberts has represented some household names in the local game in a short space of time including George Maluleka, Willard Katsande, Yagan Sasman, Bradley Grobler and Thabo Mnyamane amongst others.
Lance Davids
Following a career that saw him turn out for the likes of Hellenic, Ajax Cape Town, and SuperSport United locally as well as a successful career abroad with 1860 Munich, Djurgarden and Liersse SK, Davids, who represented Bafana Bafana 23 times called it quits as a player back in May 2015 at the age of 30.
Since then, he has ventured into player management where he currently represents a number of big-name players both locally and abroad.

Tefu Mashamaite
Hailed for his impact, first at Bidvest Wits and later Kaizer Chiefs Tefu Mashamaite has received great acclaim amongst his peers for the way he conducted himself on and off the field.
He enjoyed a season in Sweden with BK Hacken after leaving Chiefs.
The Stars of Africa Academy product, who holds a BA in International Relations and Politics at Wits University, recently started his own stable and is looking to make a mark in player management as he did on the field and in the educational sector.

Mark Haskins
Haskins enjoyed a fruitful career that saw him turn out for Jomo Cosmos, Moroka Swallows, Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United locally.
He also spent time playing college football in the United States of America for the Florida Atlantic Owls. He called time on his playing career 10 years ago whilst on the books of Matsatsantsa.
A successful TV pundit and coach, Haskins ventured into the world of player management, where he aims to guide youngsters and provide them with the guidance he wishes he enjoyed as a player.

Ricardo Katza
SuperSport United captain and legend Ricardo Katza will go down in Matsatsantsa folklore as one of the greatest players to turn out for the club.
It is little surprise that Katza earned himself a coaching gig immediately after calling time on his career back in 2018.
His time with the Tshwane outfit came to an end in 2018 when he accepted a role as director of football at Grey College in Bloemfontein. In March last year he joined Kings College in a similar role, although he remains heavily involved in player management.

Stanton Fredericks
'Stiga' as Fredericks is affectionately known, retired from the beautiful game in 2013. He shot to prominence with Wits University before moving on to Kaizer Chiefs and later Orlando Pirates before returning to the Clever Boys.
The Johannesburg-born star successfully ventured into the world of sports punditry where he works for SuperSport as a commentator and an analyst.
He also dabbles in player management and looks after the likes of Thabo Qalinge amongst others.

Teko Modise
Dubbed the super star of his generation, Teko Modise enjoyed a stellar career as a player that saw him represent Bafana Bafana at the FIFA World Cup.
He was the darling of the Orlando Pirates faithful during his time with the club, before switching to Chloorkop where he won the CAF Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns.
An enigma off the field, Modise called time on his career at the end of the 2018/19 season whilst on the books of Cape Town City.
He held down a number of positions at City and Sundowns respectively before becoming a pundit and commentator for the World of Champions.
Modise recently started his own agency called Prestigious Group where he is the CEO and looks to build players' brands off the field.
