Who The Player Is:
Kamohelo Mokotjo, a product of the SuperSport United Academy had been touted for greatness at the age of 12 by none other than Zinedine Zidane after he captained the national Under-12 team that won the Danone Cup . Not only has the midfielder lived up to expectations in terms of his career, he has far exceeded them having played in Europe and in the USA. Now back on home soil with Sekhukhune United, Mokotjo is on the verge of adding more silverware to his cabinet.

As things stand, Mokotjo, 32, boasts a market value of €250 000 (±R5.1M ) according to Transfermarkt. That however, does not tell the full story of the midfield sensation. Mokotjo made his way to Europe back in 2009 aged 18, he was valued at just €50 000 (±R1M) at the time. Unsurprisingly, he navigated his way through various teams in the Netherlands which saw him become one of the country's most revered players. His rich vein of form abroad saw him included in Bafana Bafana which has seen his market value skyrocket. At the peak of his powers aged 26, Mokotjo boasted an impressive market value of €4M (±R82.M )
Player's contract status:
Sekhukhune signed "The General" Mokotjo from FC Cincinnati (USA) on a one and a half year contract in January this year as reported by the Siya crew. He was a free agent at the time. His current contract is set to expire in June 2024; however, given his current form, it will come as no surprise that a new deal could be tabled for him in the next few months.
How Much In SA And Where?
Upon his release from FC Cincinnati, there was talk of a possible move to Kaizer Chiefs, who are understood to have rejected an initial proposal to sign the player as they had reservations about his age at the time. The same could not be said for Babina Noko however, as they pounced on the player and are reaping the benefits thereof.
How Much In Europe And Where?
Given that Mokotjo was without a club since November 2021 after partying ways with FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer, there was hope that he would reunite with FC Twente in the Dutch topflight. Although it did not materialize, Mokotjo has stated that he would return to Europe if the opportunity presented itself.
Ideal Dream Move:
Mokotjo could have ended up playing in the Premier League after he went to Tottenham Hotspur on trial. He had two separate training stints, one with the first team and Spurs wanted to sign Kamo, but as per the agreement with SuperSport, Feyenoord had first option on him, something that the Dutch side eventually took up.
