Arthur: My Dream Came True With New Bucs Signing

Arthur: My Dream Came True With New Bucs Signing

Well known for his love for Orlando Pirates, legendary South African musician Arthur Mafokate has expressed his delight at one signing the Buccaneers have made ahead of the new season.

As Pirates go into next season on the back of winning two trophies, what are you expecting from the team in the coming campaign?

I am expecting us to continue from where we left off. The only saddening part about Pirates is a lack of consistency in keeping a good squad for long. We like chopping and changing each time we win trophies but when we don't win we keep the squad for long. I hope this time we keep the core and have a style of football expected by us the fans.

How do you see the team managing playing in the DSTV Premiership and CAF Champions League?

Pirates will always struggle to win the league because we draw a lot of games but we have a good squad that deserves to win the league.

What do you think of the club's decision to take their pre-season to Spain? How do you think it will help the team?

Depending on the purpose of the trip, it will help the players bond and learn the various cultures of top Spanish teams and build good team morale and spirit for the upcoming season.

What do you think of the four signings Pirates have made so far for next season (Katlego Otladisa, Melusi Buthelezi, Siphelo Baloni, Patrick Maswanganyi)?

My dream finally came true because I always wanted Otladisa and I am not very familiar with the others, but I know Pirates are always good at buying players. We also struggle to get good defenders, but last season was good.

When and how did you start supporting Pirates?

My whole life I was a Buccaneer because my dad had a team called Junior Pirates and they used to wear black and red and used to play next to the ground where Monte Casino and Fourways Mall are.

Who is your all time favourite Pirates player and why?

Jomo Sono and I remember when he left Pirates I nearly followed him. I was so devastated and was depressed for a very long time.

Who is your favourite player in the current squad and why?

Yoh! Tough question, but I would say (Thembinkosi) Lorch, even though I spoke about (Monnapule) Saleng for the whole season. I always get attached to all players donning that jersey.

What would it take for Pirates to win the league in the coming season?

Consistency is the only solution and we need to capitalise on home matches but I am honestly not hungry for the league as long as we win a trophy I am cool.
