FRIDAY DEBATE: Is Manqoba The Man For Chiefs?

FRIDAY DEBATE: Is Manqoba The Man For Chiefs?

With Manqoba Mngqithi being linked with a possible move to Kaizer Chiefs on various platforms, this week's Friday debate asks if he would be the man to make a significant difference at Naturena.

Amakhosi are currently figuring out what the next step is for their technical bench, with information coming through that the club is looking for an experienced mentor to work with head coach Arthur Zwane and assistant coach Dillon Sheppard.

These three individuals contacted by the Siya crew have had their say on this week's topic.

Mohau Tlali - Chiefs supporter

Coach Manqoba has been in the game for some time now. He has learnt a lot from his time at Sundowns and has won important titles too. Would he be an asset to a club like Kaizer Chiefs? Definitely, yes. What we saw from the Chiefs' technical team this past season is that experience beats them at some point. Coach Manqoba would come with experience and can add on to what coaches Arthur and Dillon (Sheppard) have worked on. He has shown that he can be an assistant coach or be in a co-coaching environment. This would actually help a lot. He is a team player and his presence would be felt by the players as well. Having a big shot personality might influence the players to up their game. We might also be able to attract quality players. I would support coach Manqoba if he were to be given a chance, but I would like him to work with coaches Arthur and Dillon because this process is long. The Chiefs team has been changing coaches left, right and centre, so we need a stable technical team there. I would support him. I hope there is something happening behind the scenes there.

Njabulo Manqana - former Golden Arrows Orlando Pirates midfielder

I worked with coach Manqoba while I was at Arrows and I feel he can make a big difference at Chiefs. I am happy when I see headlines that he could possibly be going to Chiefs. I think he would make a difference. Kaizer Chiefs needs a type of coach like Manqoba Mngqithi, who has the experience and he believes in young players. I think Arthur Zwane can be an assistant coach, because Manqoba Mngqithi is good when it comes to experience. He could stay at Sundowns and earn big money, but you don't achieve anything, like when the coach of the season is announced. He does not get anything, so I am happy when I see him linked to Chiefs. He likes players who respect him and he wants people who give 100 percent. He is a coach and a father figure. You can tell him your problems as a player. l feel he should make a move. I don't see the reason for him sitting there.

Sandile Ndlovu - former Sundowns striker

I think it's high-time Mngqithi stands on his own, because he is a good coach and he is a big coach. It would be a good move for him, although there is a lot of pressure at Chiefs. I think he is used to that because he was with Pitso (Mosimane) at Sundowns and he has been with Rulani (Mokwena), so he understands the pressure. Obviously, when a new coach comes in, we can change because you cannot be satisfied with the team that is there at the moment. In my opinion, I think he should be the main man in charge because he has co-coached at Sundowns. Sometimes it's difficult to coach with a coach who had already been coaching the team. To be honest, we as coaches have players we feel are good enough and our vision is not the same as coaches. When I come to a new coach, the player that you feel should play, I might think he is someone who is better off coming on in second. I think Arthur Zwane must maybe go back to the DDC. But it's up to him, because they gave him a chance.
