The story
TS Galaxy defender, Vuyo Mere has been journeying down memory lane on his Instagram profile this week, sharing a host of old images taken throughout the course of his career.
One memory Mere looked back on fondly and likely will beyond his playing days, is from 2007, when Mamelodi Sundowns took on a star-studded FC Barcelona in a club friendly at Loftus Stadium.
After the full-time whistle went, then Sundowns defender Mere was lucky enough to swap jerseys with Brazilian football icon, Ronaldinho, who was the world's best player at the time.
A 50 000-strong crowd at Loftus Versfeld bared witness to Gordon Igesund's side that consisted of stars such as; Surprise Moriri, Mbulelo Mabizela, Lerato Chabangu and Josta Dladla among others going toe-to-toe with Ronaldinho, Deco, Carlos Puyol, Samuel Eto'o, Giuly and Victor Valdez, who were coached by Dutch legend Frank Rijkaard at the time.
Downs went down narrowly in a 2-1 result, with Mere putting on a special performance down the right flank and walking away with Ronaldinho's jersey:
