The story

Mamelodi Sundowns suffered their second cup final defeat to Orlando Pirates on Saturday, going down 2-1 in a memorable Nedbank Cup final at Mbombela Stadium.

The tense encounter between the two PSL giants — was dominated by Sundowns in terms of possession but Rulani's men, just like in October's MTN8 final in Durban, they struggled to break down a resolute Bucs defense and only broke the deadlock just before the hour-mark.

During the tense encounter, Rulani sent out a small note to Bathusi Aubaas, who handed it to his teammate Khuliso Mudau. This sequence was captured brilliantly by local sports photographer, Vincent Matlou, known as Vino Snap!

Vino excellently captured the moment Rulani wrote the note on the touchline, to the part where Aubaas fetches it and hands it to Mudau and also what Rulani's message was to his right-back.

As revealed by Vino Snap on Instagram the note reads: "I said I could take a bullet for you!! I'm asking you not to give up on me."

No tactics, just something that Rulani hoped would put more fire in Mudau's belly and judging by tireless performance on the weekend, the message was well received by the Bafana international, who held on to it while dueling with Innocent Maela.
