The story

The highly anticipated Red Bull Symphonic event took place over the weekend, showcasing Kabza De Small alongside Ofentse Pitse and the Symphonic Orchestra.

This unique musical experience celebrated "the sonic collision of two worlds," as per Red Bull's website, with some of Kabza's most beloved amapiano tracks, performed live in a spectacular fashion.

For two consecutive days (8 9 June), the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City was packed with enthusiastic amapiano lovers and big names such as Sol Phenduka, Thuli Phongolo, Mpho Popps, Young Stunna, Reason, MaWhoo and Proteas cricket star, Temba Bavuma.

Masandawana and Bafana Bafana star defender, Grant Kekana, who is missing out on World Cup Qualifier action due to injury, was joined by teammates Lebohang Maboe, Terrence Mashego and Sphelele Mkhulise at the show.

Kekana went formal by rocking a black suit and a turtle neck, to match the orchestra setting, while his teammates kept it casual in their cosy, streetwear-focused outfits.

The audience was treated to renditions of Kabza's hits: "Emcimbini", "Vula Vala", "Khusela", "Asibe Happy", "Adiwele" and the new, "Kabza Chant" — all reimagined with the accompaniment of a 33-piece Symphonic Orchestra and Vocal Octet.

Within just five hours of the initial announcement, tickets for the Red Bull Symphonic were completely sold out. This rapid sell-out underscored the immense support from both fans and the music industry, highlighting the widespread anticipation to rally behind the King of Amapiano.
