Ribeiro Shows Gratitude After PSL Awards Sweep

After lifting four accolades at the PSL Awards this week, Mamelodi Sundowns star Lucas Ribeiro Costa has expressed some gratitude over the recognition he's received.

The story

Mamelodi Sundowns star Lucas Ribeiro Costa stole the spotlight at the Premier Soccer League awards on Tuesday night, walking away with four major accolades, including the coveted Footballer of the Season title.

The Brazilian enjoyed a phenomenal 2024/25 campaign, netting 21 goals and providing 14 assists. His stellar performances saw him nominated across multiple top categories. 

In addition to being named Footballer of the Season, Ribeiro also claimed the Player's Player of the Season, Goal of the Season, and the Golden Boot awards. His impressive haul earned him a total of R550,000 in prize money.

Ribeiro expressed his joy and gratitude in equal measure on his Instagram post, showing gratitude to his teammates, coaches and Masandawana supporters for helping him reach the heights he did last season, and the voters for his awards.

"I want to thank my teammates; without you, none of this would be possible. I love my team.

"Thanks to all coaches for always pushing me to the highest level. Thank Mamelodi Sundowns for everything," wrote Ribeiro in his lengthy IG caption.

"Thank all players and coaches who voted for me. I am very grateful for your affection and respect for me. And to thank my fans for their support, affection, for everything.

"The love you guys have for me, I have triple for you, it's something that will stay in my heart forever, Masandawana," added Ribeiro.
