The story

Amakhosi centre back, Sphiwe Given Msimango explained why he's not a fan of setting up Christmas decorations, long before the festive period is well and truly underway.

Starting from October, South African retailers start preparing for their busiest period in a calendar year, the festive season.

As consumers we've grown accustomed to seeing Christmas decorations being set up by retailers, malls and even restaurants weeks before the actual day and before their end-of-year breaks.

Vodacom invited Chiefs' Msimango and young goalkeeper, Bontle Molefe to take part in a game of 'Red Flag, Green Flag', where they share their honest opinions certain scenarios and human behaviors, judging them to be either green flags (positive) or red flags (negative).

One of the situations presented to the players was 'Setting decorations long before the festive period,' and whether or not they think it's a red flag or green.

Msimango outrightly found it to be a red flag, pointing out that the festive season is not that exciting for him. "I do not see a difference between the normal season and the festive season. To me, it's all bunched up together. Typically with football, you don't get to enjoy the festive season if I'm being honest."

"You are constantly on a schedule, games and stuff. So, I don't pay much attention, but to people who do that, kudos, but for me? Nah," said the former TS Galaxy captain.

In all fairness to the 27-year-old, who's struggled for game time this season under Nasreddine Nabi, the festive season from December to Early January will see Chiefs play six league matches.

They'll play three in December against Polokwane City, TS Galaxy and Chippa United, with a further three in the first 15 days of January against Cape Town, Stellenbosch FC and Golden Arrows.
