What's the story?

Amakhosi keeper Itumeleng Khune has been going deep in his boots collection to showcase Nike's best early 2000s classics.

The 35-year-old was spotted wearing boots from 2009 in training on Tuesday, in a reel posted by Amakhosi IG page.

Khune also showed his immense boot collection, collected over the course of his long and illustrious career.

The experienced campaigner has been in Amakhosi's first team since 2004, so it comes as no surprise that he has an unbelievable collection of football boots.

Khune has been with Nike throughout his professional career and has been whipping out some early 2000s Mercurial weapons from his vault.

A reel posted by Chiefs yesterday zoomed in on Khune lacing up his Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly 2009 Max Orange boots.

The predominantly orange boots with a touch of grey around the Nike swoosh on the front, were worn by legends Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronald.

According to Soccer Cleats 101, The Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly and Vapor V were the fifth iteration of the Nike Mercurial line and the first of the Superfly line, with the Vapor Superfly using the Nike Flywire technology for the first time.

Itu also showed off two 2003 Nike Mercurial Vapor boots, wearing the gold and silver colourways.

When looking at those clean boots, you might start reminiscing on ballers such as Scarra Ngobese, Thierry Henry and Ronaldo Nazario wearing them in their peaks.

Khune warmed up with the silver pair in a recent DStv Premiership from Amakhosi, nicknaming them the "Scorpion".
