Michael Essien has followed in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and seen a statue of himself being erected in his home country of Ghana, but it is quite terrifying and potentially worse than the Real Madrid man's famously ugly bust in Madeira. Have you seen it?
The Ghanaian is one of the most successful footballers to come out of Africa, having won 13 trophies throughout his career so far, including a Champions League title.
In order to honour the legendary midfielder, who is currently plying his trade in Indonesia, a life-size tribute to Essien was unveiled in Kumasi, Ghana, and yes, it's worse than Ronaldo's in Madeira.
The statue throws back to the days when Essien played for Chelsea, but it looks little to nothing like the Ghanaian midfielder...
Check it out!
maybe these sculptors must help us understand what's going on..

Unsurprisingly, people didn't seem to appreciate the design of the statue, and it was perfectly summed up in this tweet.
That statue looks like it just received a crunching tackle from Essien rather than being of Essien https://t.co/enkBc9hPTi

What do you make of the statue of Essien?
