The story
Gavin Hunt has expressed renewed energy and excitement as he takes on the challenge of leading newly-promoted Durban City in the 2025/26 season.
Speaking on the club's ambitious project on the first episode of the season of "KZN PSL Focus", Hunt admitted, "It's given me a spring in my step again, seeing good players who want to learn and are coachable, players who want to improve and did well last year, so yeah it’s exciting, it’s a new lease on life."
The four-time league-winning coach highlighted his enthusiasm for building something fresh with the KZN-based side, and with decades of top-flight experience, Hunt is aiming to lay strong foundations and make Durban City a competitive force in Mzansi's top flight.
The former Kaizer Chiefs head coach has hit the ground running in the Betway Premiership with Durban City, winning both of their opening games of the 2025/26 season.
Hunt will hope his men in blue will turn Chatsworth Stadium into a fortress, and their next home fixture will provide a stiff test as they will face Golden Arrows on Tuesday night, 19 August.
