The story

PSL clubs, Stellenbosch FC, Cape Town City, SuperSport United, Polokwane City and AmaZulu have been dabbling with AI-generated filters, with Stellies and PLK City using it to promote to fixtures.

These clubs have joined the rush to generate Studio Ghibli-style AI 'art' using ChatGPT's image-generation tool, which has taken social media by storm.

As per Reuters, caused a massive spike in users for OpenAI's chatbot last week, putting strain on its servers and temporarily restricting access to the feature.

The Reuters report also revealed that OpenAI's average weekly active users breached the 150 million mark with the help of its new image-generation tool.

The viral trend prompted PSL clubs, football fans and general OpenAI users worldwide to share images inspired by the hand-drawn style of the iconic Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli, founded by acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki.

Miyazaki is famous for films like, "Kiki's Delivery Service," "Spirited Away" and "My Neighbor Totoro" is a known critic of AI, having called it an "insult to life itself," in the past.

Cape Town City and AmaZulu used the feature to commemorate memorable moments from their respective clubs, while Matsatsantsa used an image of midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu holding up his Man of the Match award after a stalemate at home with CT City.
