The story
Banyana Banyana touched in Aalborg, Denmark, on Tuesday night as they begin their European tour, which will adequately prepare them for their Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title defence next year.
The reigning African champions will take on the Danes in an away international friendly on Friday, 25 October, at the Aalborg Stadium, with the match kicking off at 6pm.
As stated by the South African Football Association (SAFA), 17 Banyana players traveled to Aalborg, with the Lithuania-based Shamase twins, Thulelihle and Sphumelele, joining the team upon their arrival in Denmark.
The press release also revealed that four overseas-based players, Thembi Kgatlana, Hildah Magaia, Linda Motlhalo, and Sinoxolo Cesane — could not travel to Denmark due to visa issues and will join the team in Coventry, for Banyana's second friendly of their tour against England.
Proud sponsors of the South African Women's national team, Sasol, took to Instagram to share footage of the players arriving and settling down at their base in Aalborg.
