5 Of The Most Iconic Boots In Football History

In an era when custom-made football boots are the way to go, we take a look at where it all began with some of football's most iconic boots. Check it out!

It can be said that PUMA is currently one of the biggest sports brands in the world today, with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Romelu Lukaku and Antoine Griezmann being sponsored by the German brand, and legends Diego Maradona and Pele were the faces of the PUMA King boots.

As for Nike, the Mercurial set sparked recognition in the early 2000s, and especially so when the Mercurial R9 version was released in honour of Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario.

Another Nike boot that makes the list is the Tiempo R10 version made famous by Barcelona great Ronaldinho, and many aspiring footballers opted for the boots during the height of the Brazilian trickster's career. Later on, a futsal version of the Tiempo R10 was released, which in turn gained much popularity at the time.

All footballers had to start somewhere, and during the 1990s, one of the most famous start-up togs was that of the Umbro Speciali, which was worn by English great Michael Owen throughout his career.

Last, but certainly not least, the adidas Predator. Worn by the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham, the Predator boot remains one of the most popular boots in the sport.
