The White Knights currently sit atop the Egyptian League, with a game in hand and a six point lead over their rivals Al Ahly. They have only lost twice in 34 domestic league matches this season and have only lost once in seven matches in this year's edition of the CCC.
One of the key areas behind the Cairo-based team's success is their defensive solidity, with a consistent back four featuring throughout the season. Their goalkeeper, Ahmed El-Shewany, has been in particularly fine form, keeping an impressive 20 clean sheets in league games this season.
They will be looking to carry their form into the continental competition, where they currently sit alongside Pirates on top of the group, with both teams grinding out 1-0 wins in their opening encounters.
This indicates that Bucs will have their work cut out for them in trying to breach the Egyptians' defence. This is not the only aspect they will have to watch out for, with Pirates' official website analysis on their opponents pointing out:
"The main threat for Pirates will likely come from the right flank; this is the side occupied by Bafana Bafana international Thabo Matlaba. He will have to contend with the very skilful and energetic Ayman Hefney and the marauding full back Hazem Emam. Both players are Egyptian internationals and boast experience in the CAF competitions."
The encounter promises to be an intriguing one, with proceedings at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit getting underway at 15h00.
