'KE95' revealed that his decision for the number on his jersey was influenced by the exploits of the Bucs squad of 95 who conquered the African continent by become the first South African team to win the CAF Champions League.
"When I joined Pirates in 2013, I chose to wear this number because of the significance of that year (1995) for the club," explained Erasmus.
"I wanted to do something that would inspire myself and my teammates so that we would emulate the class of 1995."
"Those players will always remain special for what they achieved and this is also in honour of them. It's important to us that we should write our own history to add to the legacy of Pirates," concluded the Port Elizabeth-born forward.
Erasmus was cup-tied upon his arrival at Parktown and, could only watch his team fall at the last hurdle to Egyptian giants, Al Ahly.
