Cavin Johnson Thinks Platinum Stars Can Bounce Back In The CAF Confederation Cup

Cavin Johnson

Platinum Stars head coach, Cavin Johnson, is still confident that his side can progress in the CAF Confederation Cup, despite this weekend's defeat.   Read: Nedbank Cup Draw - Who's In The Hat?   Dikwena were well beaten by AS Tanda in the Ivory Coast on Sunday as they went down 2-0 in Abidjan in the first leg of their playoff for a spot in the group stages of the competition.   Stars conceded an early penalty, which Johnson wasn't happy with and was converted by Kevin Zougoula before Baffour Assare put the result beyond doubt in the 82nd minute.
Johnson's side now has their backs against the wall ahead of next weekend's second leg in the North West, however, he is confident that they can overturn the deficit.   He told the club's official website, "I thought the penalty the referee gave was very cheap. I could blow for a penalty like that as well. We have to thank AS Tanda for giving us a good game.   "I think in South Africa we have a nice chance to come back. The second goal we didn't do too well. We will fix all our errors and we will come back. We will give them a good game in South Africa.   The Dikwena head coach also praised their opponents, although he thinks his side can match them, saying, "AS Tanda is a good team. They like to play long balls. They always play to number 9 and number 10. They hold the ball well and they are quick but I think in South Africa we will be able to contain them and we will give them a good game."   The second leg, at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, will take place on Sunday afternoon.
