After being stripped of their fourth CAF Champions League title, Esperance have responded to CAF's shocking decision to have their 2019 CAFCL final against Wydad Casablanca replayed.
The Tunisians were controversially crowned champions of the African spectacle after they were handed the title following opponents Wydad's refusal to continue proceedings in the second leg of the encounter in protest of a disallowed equaliser.
CAF subsequently released a statement ordering a replay of the final between the two sides, which will take place in a country other than Tunisia.
Esperance have since broken their silence on the matter, claiming they will not return the medals and trophy, and will instead go the legal route and take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
"The club's management will hold an urgent meeting to appeal against CAF's decision with the relevant international bodies and will take all legal measures to preserve its rights," the Tunisian giants said in a club statement via Africa News.
Esperance official says CAF informed them the match has to be replayed because officials said they only handed out medals and trophy to their team because they were “scared” pic.twitter.com/rmeVPqcda6
