Onyango and his Downs teammates are set to share the $1.5 million (R21 million) CCL prize money among them, as promised by club president Patrice Motsepe.
Furthermore, the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula, gave Sundowns players a R700 000 cheque upon their return to Mzansi from Egypt today, as another reward for their historic continental achievement.
The Siya crew has gathered from various media houses in Uganda that the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) plans to reward Onyango with a land title for his achievement.
"Big achievements come with big rewards. Denis Onyango – the first Ugandan to win a CAF Champions League medal – will be rewarded by FUFA with a land title on 12th November 2016, when Uganda Cranes play Congo Brazzaville in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia qualifier at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole," Uganda's The Insider reported.
"Onyango won the Champions League with South African side Mamelodi Sundowns following a 3-1 aggregate score over Egyptian side Zamalek over the weekend in Alexandria."
