Banyana who lost their opening fixture of the AWC's to Cameroon 1-0 and drew their second match 1-1 against Ghana, displayed a rallying performance to qualify for the semi-final stages by thrashing Algeria 5-1 to book their place against arch nemesis Nigeria.

Should Banyana overcome Nigeria, they will automatically qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup scheduled to be played in Canada next year.

"This team is the pride of the whole nation and I, on behalf of SAFA would want to wish them well. They have proven that they can really rise to the occasion when the going gets tough and hope they carry that momentum into Wednesday's game. The comprehensive win against Algeria was a clear indication of what they can offer," said Dr Jordaan in a SAFA media release.

"Nigeria are a very good side but I am confident that Vera Pauw and her charges will do the nation proud. What a better way to qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup by beating Nigeria," added the SAFA President.

Meanwhile, Banyana striker Portia Modise whose brace against Algeria meant that she racked up her 100th goal in National colours was lauded by Jordaan.

"This is by far one of the best achievements by any player in Banyana Banyana colours. As the Association, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Modise for the milestone she has reached. 100 goals and more than 100 caps for your country is no mean feat, she is an inspiration not only among her peers but for up-and-coming players. We hope she grows from strength to strength," stated Jordaan.

Another player to break an important milestone was Mpumelelo Nyandeni who recently reached 100 caps for Banyana Banyana.
