Banyana Banyana began their All Africa Games campaign with a 1-1 draw against Cameroon in Brazzaville on Monday evening.
Neither side could find a decisive goal in the opening 45 minutes and went into the halftime break with the scores level at 0-0.
Although, it was Vera Pauw's side who broke the deadlock midway through the second half, courtesy of a strike from forward, Leandra Smeda.
However, Cameroon ensured both sides earned a share of the spoils in the 87th minute, after they were awarded a penalty, which Manie Christine converted.
Banyana will take on Ghana in their next Group B encounter on Thursday, 10 September at 17h00.
There are only three teams in Group B, after Egypt withdrew their men's and women's teams, which means Pauw's charges can secure a spot in the semi-final with victory over Ghana.
