Soccer Laduma is giving you an opportunity to rate each of the Bafana Bafana players out of 10 after their international friendly match against DR Congo at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night. A solitary goal from Man of the Match, Lyle Foster, proved to be enough for coach Hugo Broos' charges with the former Orlando Pirate striker playing as a number 10, in a much deeper role.
While everyone seems happy with the results, it was the opposition team's 12th man that proved to be a serious concern on the night. Bafana were completely dominated on the stands and looked to be an away team, something that didn't sit well with both Foster and Broos, as articulated in their post-match interviews.
A number of players like Percy Tau, Bathusi Aubass, Foster, Zakhele Lepasa and Saleng were some of the players who showed their hands and will hope to have done enough to convince the coach to bring them back to the national team.
On paper, Bafana were a better team but a closer look will reveal that it was the opponents who looked more threatening. Bafana slightly dominated ball possession with 53% while the visitors dominated play in the opposition half. They had 21 goal attempts with eight of those on target while the home side 10 with only three on target.
How they lined up:
Ricardo Goss, Nyiko Mobbie, Siyanda Xulu, Mothobi Mvala, Innocent Maela, Bathusi Aubaas, Mlungisi Mbunjana, Lyle Foster, Percy Tau, Mihlali Mayambela, Zakhele Lepasa
