SAFA NEC Divided On Jordaan?

SAFA NEC Divided On Jordaan?

South Africa Football Association President Danny Jordaan arrives at the Palm Ridge Court on 13 November 2024

The SAFA National Executive Committee is understood to be divided on the matter involving the association's president Danny Jordaan following his recent arrest.

Jordaan is out on bail after he was arrested earlier this month on allegations of fraud and theft involving around R1.3 million.

While some members in the country's football governing body called for Jordaan to step aside following his court appearance, others are believed to be in support of him during these difficult times.

According to South African law, one is innocent until proven guilty, and those in support of Jordaan might be having that saying in mind in not wanting to be judgemental on the matter that is already before the court.

"As the leader that he is, there are those that are in his corner and that is normal. He has done some good things in the past for the development of football and that's why it is difficult for everyone to desert him during his time of need. There are also those who believe that he should step aside, and again that is also normal when one is in a leadership position like him. But the matter is before the court and that should be respected," said the Siya source.
