Bafana Bafana Player Ratings v Angola

Bafana Bafana Player Ratings v Angola

Thulani Serero

Jackson Mabokgwane - 6   Looked out of position for Angola's goal, but he was solid when called upon and did well under the high ball and in-coming crosses.   Anele Ngcongca - 7   Put in a fine individual display at right full-back and certainly gave his opponent no time on the ball, which cut off their supply on the left flank.   Erick Mathoho - 7   Didn't cover himself in glory for the first goal, although he did improve as the game went on, although his understanding with Coetzee needs to improve.   Rivaldo Coetzee  - 7   Much like Mathoho, their communication was poor in the opening stages, which led to Angola's opener, however he did put in a better showing as the game went on.   Thabo Matlaba - 8   Matlaba impressed on both ends of the pitch, most notably going forward, as laid on the pass for Tokelo Rantie to grab the equaliser.   Andile Jali - 8   Jali certainly made his presence known in the middle of the park, worked tirelessly in the box-to-box role, he capped off his performance with a well-taken penalty, before receiving his second yellow card for celebrating in front of the Angolan fans.   Bongani Zungu - 7   The Sundowns midfielder is building an impressive relationship alongside Jali, he did well to keep things ticking in the middle of the mark and his distribution.   Mandla Masango - 6   Despite Bafana enjoying a decent spell of posession, Masango never really had much an impact down the right flank but he did pick up the assist for Gabuza's goal.   Thulani Serero - 6   Deployed on the left flank and didn't have much joy down the left flank and he was eventually substituted in the first 10 minutes of the second half.   Tokelo Rantie - 8   Rantie proved to be a constant threat to Angolan defence throughout the 90 minutes, he equalised with a wonderful effort, before winning the penalty that sealed the win.   Thamsanqa Gabuza - 7   Worked tirelessly in the attack and bullied the opposition with his strength, while he also managed to find the back of the net with a neat finish.    Substitutes:   Mpho Makola - 5   Replaced Serero shortly after the halftime break, although didn't do any better than the Ajax Amsterdam midfielder.    Dean Furman - 5   Brought on as Bafana were protecting their lead but didn't do too much.   George Lebese - 5   Similar to the other substitutes, didn't have much impact upon his introduction, despite playing the last 20 minutes.
