UFS Target Semi-Final Spot

UFS Target Semi-Final Spot

UFS vs NWU - Varsity Football

UFS-Kovsies are primed to upset visitors NWU in what will be a crunch match for the home team as they hunt a spot in the Varsity Football semi-finals.   It's victory or nothing for Kovsies, who must win to reach the last four of the competition.    NWU have already booked their spot in the knockout stage, but coach Amos Xabanisa has urged his players to score as many goals as possible to land a home semi-final.   Coach, Godfrey Tenoff, believes the home support will boost Kovsies' chances, but the team will lament the absence of Jarred Meyer and Dumisani Tjemolane due to suspension and Tseou Mphezulu, who is out injured.   Tenoff revealed he will be making careful decisions about his team, saying he knows a lot is at stake for Kovsies, but remained mum about his tactics as he does not want to give anything away.   Xabanisa has been putting his attackers to work in training this week as he looks to overtake UJ at the top of the table by bagging a win and scoring more goals.   The North-West coach will tweak his starting-eleven slightly, but says he will stick to the squad who have been bringing in the results this season.   UFS squad: 1 Serasengoe Moodie, 4 Mara thodi Phillies, 13 Tsoeu Mphezulu 19 Jarred Meyer, 20 Dumisani Tjomelane, 15 Themba Zimo, 10 Simon Modupi, 11 Lehlohonolo Mokoena, 7 Walter Phori, 24 Dylan O'Brien, 6 Manxubandile Bantshi, 23 Mongezi Mologovane, 3 Unathi Mabandla, 2 Khauhelo Kholotsa, 16 Lehlohonolo Thaelo, 14 Glen Rikhotso, 12 Kakudi Moreleba, 9 Jay Jay Groenewald.   NWU squad: 16 Xolani Mitshali, 1 Amogelang Maduo, 7 Sipho Mateis, 2 Lebogang Phetlu, 5 Kyle Amon, 24 Aobakwe Mopelwa, 20 Tseko Weevris, 25 Goitseone Naane, 12 Mogomotsi Molefe, 21 Lebogang Motshegare, 6 Sandile Mabatha, Matsobane Matsi, 13 Thatohatsi Santos, 17 Lethogonolo Mirwa, 10 Orebotse Mongae, 9 Tshenolo Machwiswa, 11 Lindani Dudula, 18 RThapelo Tlabakwe, 23 Joshua Ndaba Maduna, 8 Kagiso Modimoeng.   Venue: Shimla Park (Free State)   Time: 18.00   Date: Monday, September 1
