Les Bleus were impressive at the 2016 European Championship, but lost 1-0 to Portugal in the final of the tournament, with Eder striking the winner in extra-time.

This time out, at the World Cup, France will be looking to go one better, and have a star-studded team that will give them a great chance of doing so, with most of their players representing the biggest teams in world football, where they earn mega salaries.

Paul Pogba is said to be the best earner in the squad on £290 000 (R4.8 million) a week at United, while Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid Kylian Mbappe is believed to be on a weekly wage of £262 000 (R4.3 million).

Ousmane Dembele, who was preferred over the likes of Anthony Martial and Kingsley Coman for the squad, is France's third highest-paid player on £220 000 (R3.6 million) a week.

Fourth in the gallery is Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann on £200 000 (R3.3 million) a week, although that could soon increase if reports that he is close to a move to Barca are to be believed.

Reports suggest that Thomas Lemar, who plays for Monaco in France's Ligue 1, is on £130 000 (R2.1 million) a week, and he is another player who could very well be on the move in this transfer window, especially if he has a good tournament.

Olivier Giroud, N'Golo Kante and Blaise Matuidi all follow Lemar, with the trio all reportedly on a weekly salary of £120 000 (R2 million) at their respective clubs.
