Spanish La Liga
Report: Real Sociedad 2-0 Atletico Madrid
Date: 05 November 2016
Venue: Anoeta Stadium
Atletico Madrid missed the chance to go top of La Liga, after they suffered a 2-0 loss to Real Sociedad on Saturday evening.
Atletico nearly got an early goal in the third minute as good play down the right flank saw Diego Godin found himself free in the penalty box, but he sent his header over the bar.
The game was showing signs of opening up as the two teams were going at each other freely.
Atletico were still looking to assert themselves into the game as Sociedad didn't give them the space to dominate possession.
As a result the game went into the interval logged at 0-0.
La Real opened the scoring in the 54th minute, as Carlos Vela converted from the penalty spot to hand the home side the lead.
In a similar fate of events Sociedad made it 2-0 from a spot-kick.
Vela made his way into the penalty area and was clumsily brought down by Carrea. Willian Jose stepped up and converted sending the ball into the top right corner.
The 2-0 lead seemed an uphill battle for Atletico as they could not create clear cut chances.
